100 Lines That Stuck With Me

(WiP)

1.
"Here in the valley, your death casts no shadow."
- Hic Svent Leones, Final Fantasy XIV.

What a raw as fuck way of saying no one will remember you after you die. In context it's a sad reflection on the creatures that are abandoned who die and are doomed to be forgotten. However in the other context of a boss battle (where it plays in-game), it's a chilling threat.

2.
"There had been another girl who grew up alongside Harrow—but she had died before Harrow was born."
- Harrow the Ninth.

What a mindfuck of a line! If you didn't know something was wrong with HtN, now you fucking do! I love lines like this that almost make sense until they fatally contradict themselves.

3.
"I am drowning. There is no sign of land. You are coming down with me: hand in unlovable hand."
- No Children, Mountain Goats.

Absolute bitterness, that steers aggressively into romanticism. I hate you, but somehow your hand is still magnetically drawn to mine. So toxic! So passionate! Absolutely horrible! My bones will rest easy next to your bones. I hope when we die, they put our hells close to each other! Oh, that was two quotes there. Let's add 'em!

4.
"My bones will rest easy next to your bones."
- Harrow the Ninth (expect a lot of The Locked Tomb on this list!)

We share a bond and you're not getting rid of me. We share a sin, an awful thing, but we share it all the same. When it's our time to rest, I hope you're there, too. Awful and romantic at the same time.

5.
"I hope when we die, they put our Hells close to each other."
- Sam and Max.

Obviously a comical comment in context, but I find it really endearing! We are at the worst end, an end we knew was coming, but I'm glad you're here. I wouldn't want to spend it with anyone else. (I ship it.)
